Uncle Sam Drowning

Uncle Sam Drowning

Defeat the Debt in New York’s Times Square

DETAILS: Billboard design to promote Defeat the Debt’s campaign educating the American public about the national debt. The five panel billboard advertisement in New York’s Times Square focused on Uncle Sam literally drowning as the debt nearly rises to 13 trillion dollars. These billboards, along with the stunts in New York City, Chicago, and Washington, DC, are great examples of gorilla marketing to get a controversial issue more earned media, as well as grab the public’s attention. Photography used in the advertisement is by Jenni Green.

HONORS: Defeat the Debt’s Metro Campaign in Washington, DC was included in GD USA’s American Inhouse Design Awards Issue, July/August 2010.
